Classroom Summary March 15-19

Rain rain go away! My goodness was it a messy start to the week! As you know, the beginning to our week did not start off on the driest note. Miss Varrell was out on Monday (due to a newly forming body of water in her basement) at the same time that Pine Glen was dealing with its own flooding issues on the lower level. Everyone was SO good about being flexible in school on Monday. Mrs. Lane reported that Room 211 was exceptionally well-behaved and made the adjustment well to being in an entirely different room with entirely different teachers for the day. It made Miss Varrell very happy when she got back to school on Wednesday.

The rest of the week was a bit of a crazed one. We had our usual Wacky Wednesday with our different daily schedule and by the time Friday rolled around we had even more excitement because we lost electricity for about an hour during math and science! However, we did get a chance to be introduced to some new critters visiting our classroom, two American toads. As we will be learning about amphibians and reptiles over the next few weeks, it was a chance to see how some real live amphibians live!

In addition to that, Miss Varrell also introduced the class to a new reading basket with comic books in it. Next week the comics will be at a center called "Comic Comparison" where everyone will have a chance to read a comic book and compare it to another type of media: a magazine, a book, another comic, or a tv show! Here are some photos of what it looked like in the room while we were enjoying reading this new and very different type of reading material.

Book orders were placed this afternoon so if you ordered any, they should be in in the next couple of weeks.

Have a wonderful warm weekend and enjoy the first day of spring!

Regards,
Miss Varrell :)
