Room 211 Goes Maple Sugaring!

Ms. Pavlicek came to teach us about maple sugaring today. We learned the process of gathering sap from sugar maple trees and how it gets from the tree to our kitchen table! We used different types of tools (mallet, spile, hook, jug, measuring tape, drill) to help us tap a maple tree in the woods near the playground. We know that it's possible that our tree won't produce any sap, but if it does we'll be able to see it collect in the jug after several warm days/freezing nights. Below you'll see some of the stages of tapping the tree! A great big thank you goes to Ms. Pavlicek for organizing this wonderful field experience for us.
