Welcome to Second Grade!

Can you believe second grade is here already?! We are all so excited to be back in school and making new friends. This week we started to learn where everything is located in the classroom, some classroom routines and we even started to explore some math materials. Next week we will be continuing our learning of classroom expectations, routines and jobs at the same time we review our first grade skills in preparation for second grade curricula.

On Monday we will add some new routines, one being HOMEWORK! Back by popular demand, the second grade homework packet will make its return appearance on Monday, September 10. At the front of the packet will be an information letter to parents explaining the expectations and FAQ's of homework this year. Please sign the school copy and return it to school with your child on Tuesday; the parent copy is yours to keep.

Enjoy your family time and be sure to talk with your child about their week. Their transition to second grade was exceptional. :) I have enjoyed talking with all of the children this week as they have begun to share their hopes and dreams for the current year. Here are some examples:

Fun Weekend Idea: Celebrate your child's new maturity by taking them to get a library card (if you have not already done so). It is one of the greatest (and cheapest!) gifts you will ever give them. :)

Regards,
Miss Varrell
